Raised by a grandmother who adored gardening and a mother who presses flowers for a hobby Kathy Folino has always been at home in the world of plants. She attended Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and spent most of her professional life as a medical photographer.
Eventually she returned to her love of painting and plants and received a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the Wellesley College Friends of Horticulture.
She has exhibited at the Horticultural Society of New York ASBA shows, winning an Honorable Mention, New England Society of Botanical Artists sponsored shows and other private exhibitions throughout New England. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists, the New England Society of Botanical Artists and the South Shore Art Center.
Currently, Kathy is involved in a new florilegium project for the Wellesley College Greenhouses and Botanic Gardens besides ongoing personal projects. She works on various kinds of vellum and paper and experiments with silverpoint and printmaking.
