Margaret J. Fitzpatrick HSDipAD SBA
Margaret studied at Reigate School of Art where she trained in Heraldic Art Calligraphy and Illumination and gained the Higher Surrey Diploma in Art and Design in 1981
For ten years Margaret worked for a range of clients including: the College of Arms in London, the Inns of Court, London Livery Companies. Her work for the College of Arms included painting the banners and crests for the Order of the Garter at Windsor and for the Order of the Bath at Westminster Abbey.
Margaret's love of gardening and plants led her to botanical illustration and in 2003 she was awarded a Royal Horticultural Society Silver medal for her series of paintings of clematis.
In 2007 she completed the Society of Botanical Artists Diploma in Botanical Illustration for which she received distinction and a special award for excellence. Margaret was elected a member of the society in 2008.
Margaret became a member of The Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society in 2008.
Whilst continuing her botanical work, Margaret teaches painting and drawing in watercolour and other media at Kelmscott Manor, the home of William Morris in Oxfordshire.
Her work has been hung at: the Society of Graphic Artists in London; the Victoria and Albert Museum; the London Guilds; Galleries in Surrey, Sussex, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.
Margaret is a member of the Gloucestershire Society of Botanical Illustration. She was elected a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Painter Stainers in 1985.
