Suzanne Olive

Suzanne Olive received a degree in Botany at the University of California, Berkeley and worked as a botanist for the United States Forest Service and the California Department of Parks and Recreation.  She has also worked as a private botanical consultant.

Having grown up in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York and now living in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California, Suzanne has spent a lifetime studying the native flora in its natural habitat.
For Suzanne, drawing is a meditation on the beauty of natural forms.

Her graphite pencil drawings have been exhibited at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation; United States Botanic Garden in Washington, DC; Denver Botanic Gardens; Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and the Oakland Museum.

Her work is in the collection of the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, as well as in private collections. She won first prize in the black and white category at the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Botanical Illustration Show in 1999.
